ORLANDO, Fla. – Monday, May 7, 2012 – Dexter Foxworth, whose career has spanned the globe working for Walt Disney World and Cirque du Soleil, has been named Director of the Zebra Coalition. Foxworth oversees the organization’s operations and strategic growth in order to strengthen the network of youth service providers that provide a full continuum of services and resources to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ) youth in Central Florida.
“The Zebra Coalition is a concept that is long overdue. LGBTQ youth in our community are experiencing abandonment as well other severe issues such as physical and emotional abuse,” said Foxworth. “In partnership with 40 individual members representing 18 different local social service and government agencies, schools, colleges and universities, and businesses, the Zebra Coalition is the only organization in Central Florida that assesses the needs of and offers a full continuum of services to LGBTQ youth to assist with their journey to recovery and stability,” he said.
Prior to joining the Zebra Coalition, Foxworth’s career spanned the globe working for such companies as Walt Disney World, Cirque du Soleil and as an event management consultant. From leading an entertainment region for the world’s leading theme park destination to creating corporate events for major companies he brings a unique background in the creative arena and managing large teams of employees, operations and budgets.
“Dexter is known for motivating forward momentum through collaboration, partnerships and relationships,” said Babette Hankey, Chief Operating Officer of The Center for Drug-Free Living, a member of the Zebra Coalition. “Dexter has a sincere passion for bringing to life strategies that deliver great business results,” she said.
Foxworth holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Palm Beach Atlantic University and is an active member with the Metropolitan Business Association.
