Zebra Coalition Volunteer Opportunities
Hotline
A large number of volunteers are needed to go through one 6-hour training seminar to monitor the Zebra Coalition 24/7 hotline. Volunteers are asked to take a minimum of one 8-hour overnight shift per month. The hotline is transferred to your cell phone so there is no need to physically go anywhere to be able to help! Hotline volunteers will be responsible for assessing the callers’ needs, referring callers’ to appropriate resources, and tracking all call info.
Overnight
When in need youth find themselves without a home and need to stay at Zebra House for a short time, we will need to pull from our overnight volunteers often times on short notice. Volunteers will be asked to stay at Zebra House overnight in teams with the clients to monitor their needs and safety. To optimize safety, volunteers are asked to stay awake on this shift. While this is a difficult shift to cover for many, the need for volunteers for this aspect is crucial to the well-being of in need youth. Training for this volunteer opportunity does not commit you to staying at Zebra House on any specific days; it will add you to the call list when we are in need of someone to go on shift.
Admin
There are many administrative duties and projects to be done on a daily basis for the Zebra Coalition. Shifts for admin volunteers are extremely flexible with work that can even be completed at home at your convenience. Other needs will require you to be at Zebra House working along with our staff. Shifts are scheduled based on your availability and interest.
Special Projects
Given the diverse services offered through the Zebra Coalition, there are many projects, presentations, etc. that need volunteers to help move along their development. If you have any special skills in presentation development, creative or technical writing, program development etc. please contact us to setup a one on one meeting to evaluate where your skills could best be used.
